subject: PRINT DESCRIPTION
options: When you select the "(P)rint" option in the Main Menu,
or issue the command "PRINT" from the Command Line,
the Print Options window shown below will appear.

Modify the fields as desired (a detailed discussion of
each option in this window is presented in "Print
Configuration" in the Configuration section), and
then press F10 to begin printing or Esc to exit the
window.
Any modifications you make in the Print Options window
will be saved in memory until you exit PC-Type II. The
next time you enter this window, the last settings you
made will still be there.
NOTE: they will not be saved in a .PRO file, however,
without first entering this window from the
Configuration Menu and pressing F10.)
209
printing: When you press F10 in the Print Options window,
printing will begin on the file you were editing prior
to entering the window. (If you are performing
Mail-Merge, you will be asked to accept the selected
records from the database and enter any keyin
information before the printing of the document
actually begins.)
As each line is sent to the designated output device,
it is also printed on your screen so you can monitor
the progress. The message line will also provide you
with the percentage complete message:
xx% complete printing copy n
If you requested more than one copy of the file to be
printed, the next copy will begin when the previous
copy is finished and the above message will change
accordingly. Formfeeds will be issued as defined in
the Print Options menu and PC-Type II will pause after
each page is printed if you requested it to do so.
If for some reason the output device cannot accept
output as it is delivered, a message is displayed and
you are given the option to cancel or to try to fix
the problem and continue. (A typical situation would
be turning your printer "off line" while inserting a
new sheet of paper and forgetting to turn it back "on
line" before continuing.)
When printing is completed, a window stating:
┌───────────────────────────┐
│ Printing completed. │
│ Press a key to continue...│
└───────────────────────────┘
will be displayed. You may stop the printing at any
time by pressing the Esc key. If you do so, a window
stating:
┌───────────────────────────┐
│ Printing aborted. │
│ Press a key to continue...│
└───────────────────────────┘
will be displayed.
When you press a key after either of these windows is
displayed, you will be returned at the same location
in the file where you were editing prior to beginning
the print operation.

output: If you defined the "Global_(Beg)" escape code in the
"Escape Code Definition" window, then this set of
characters will be sent to the output first. (This
assumes, of course, that the "Printer Escape Codes"
toggle in the Print Options menu is set to ON.)
If the "Headers/Footers" option is turned ON, headers
and footers will be printed at the beginning and end
of each page as they were defined in Configuration or
as new definitions are encountered in your text.
If you selected double or triple spacing in the "TAB
toggle options" menu, your text area will be printed
accordingly. Page markers and conditional page breaks
are observed. Special Lines are not printed, but
their instructions to the printing process are
followed.
As print markers are encountered, they are sent to the
output destination before or after the character on
which they were placed depending upon whether their
purpose was to turn an option ON or turn an option
OFF. (This assumes again that the "Printer Escape
Codes" toggle in the Print Options menu is set to ON.)
Before each character in a header, footer, or text
line is sent to the designated output device, it is
translated into the corresponding character you
defined in the "Printer Translation Table". (See the
Configuration section.)
NOTE: Escape codes are not translated.
